Happy New Year, cuties! Wow–can’t you believe it’s 2023? I couldn’t be more excited to be starting a fresh New Year, and what better way to kick things off than by sharing my interior design predictions for the year to come?
My Design Team and I have landed on four emerging interior design concepts that we see as being majorly influential in 2023 and beyond! Rather than focusing on “trends,” I like to think of these ideas more as “upcoming game-changers” that will fold into the interiors landscape as timeless looks and essential design elements.
“Without further ado, please enjoy my top four interior design predictions from the year–prepare for au naturale visual elements, mixed materials, and tons of texture. Check out the video below to learn more!”

Interior Design Prediction #1: Natural Stone
With the last several years being somewhat unpredictable and tumultuous, I’m hearing from so many of our customers and clients, including our most recent bettingsitesnotongamstop.ltd customers, that serenity and a sense of calm are major priorities when they’re shopping for furniture or designing a space. Enter all things natural stone!
“This first interior design prediction is all about that cool, soothing feeling that stone has the power to exude.”
Whether they be crafted with crisp, white marble or luxe, shimmering onyx, furniture and decor elements instantly lower the temperature (in a good way!) and add a grounded feeling to any room.

Interior Design Prediction #2: Biophilic Design
In a similar vein (see what I did there? Vein, like the veins in a block of marble?) to stone, my next interior design prediction for 2023 is also firmly rooted in the natural world. Biophilic design is a term I like to use to encompass the embrace–and mixture–of organic materials that help bring the outdoors in.
“In 2023, I see biophilic design manifesting through a beautiful mix of materials like cane, rattan, teak, mango wood, and a variety of metals.”
Mixed materials pieces–like cane and wood dining chairs, for example–honor the natural world my mimicking the way that so many amazing textures and materials really do thrive together in forests and gardens the world over.

Interior Design Prediction #3: Wellness Spaces
Regardless of the year, health and wellness are always at the top of my list–and even more so when you can incorporate wellness into your home design. Since 2020, at-home workouts have become more and more the norm and in 2023, I expect to see the spaces where we exercise, mediate, and practice all forms of wellness to really come to the forefront as a design priority.
“At this point, home wellness spaces no longer need to feel ad-hoc or temporary–they’re here to stay and should be designed with as much care as the rest of your home.”
Of course you’ll want to research the technical equipment that’s right for you (I’m a Peloton girl, myself), but when it comes to accenting your wellness space, you can’t go wrong with luxe floor pillows and poofs and plenty of plants and greenery…and maybe even a swing if you’re feeling whimsical!

Interior Design Prediction #4: Performance & Textured Fabrics
My final interior design prediction for the New Year is a continued rise in high-quality performance fabrics, as well as textured fabrics–often, these two attributes go hand in hand.
Performance fabrics and unique textures have long been the norm in rugs, but I see the concept appearing more and more in chairs and sofas. If you have children or pets in your household, performance fabrics are a must–they’re easier to clear and more durable, while still looking fantastic. And when it comes to mixing textures, I honestly see texture as being just as crucial as color in any room.
“Cozy textures like boucle are here to stay (and I guess I’m a poet now?) while I expect we’ll see a super-fun rise in hide, faux fur, and globally-inspired knits.”
