Hi there, cuties! With springtime just around the corner, I am thrilled that our March 2023 Kathy Kuo Home Trade Member Spotlight is Maggie Griffin, owner and lead designer at Maggie Griffin Design—a designer who never shies away from color and bringing gorgeous florals into her spaces.
Maggie Griffin Design is based in North Georgia, but works all over the country. For over a decade, Maggie Griffin Design has operated as a full service interior design studio with a team of pros dedicated to “classic design with Southern hospitality.” Here at KKH, we’re lucky to call Maggie Griffin Design a Trade Member and are constantly inspired by the company’s work!
“We love the expansive offerings from Kathy Kuo and your prompt communication.” –Maggie Griffin
I recently caught up with Maggie about all things interior design and what’s new with her business (spoiler alert: there’s a TV show in her future)! Scroll through to be amazed by Maggie Griffin Design’s work and to be totally charmed by Maggie and the insights she has to share!

Tell our readers about your business—what are your specialities and core offerings?
Maggie Griffin Design is a full-scale interior design firm specializing in estate home new builds, turn key second homes, and large scale renovations as well as interior decorating.
“We are traditionalists at heart, but love a bit modern thrown in the mix!”
With four designers, MGD has combined 40 years of experience, working well with contractors across the Southeast and vendors across the globe.
How would you describe the style of your own home? What’s your favorite piece of furniture or decor that you own?
The home we are building is a Tudor style home with many traditional elements, and a few modern touches. I love all of the pieces that have been passed to me from my mother, grandmothers and mother in law.

Tell us about a notable project from the past few years.
For three years I worked with architect Greg Busch, Athens Building Company, and a wonderful set of clients to build a family farm house in the North Georgia mountains. We labored over every detail, and I loved the amazing finished product. Its featured prominently on my website, my Instagram and Instagram highlights.
What have been some of the biggest joys and challenges you’ve faced in your career in the design industry?
The biggest joys are creating spaces for families to gather, creating homes for families to grow into, and having repeat clients that span across the phases of their life.
The larger challenges have been over the past three years as we adjusted to severe supply chain issues, inflated prices, and insane lead times!

Are there any design trends you see on the horizon this year?
I think people want cozy, warm, layered spaces that aren’t so wide open and white!
What advice would you give someone who wants to work with an interior designer, but they feel hesitant?
My advice would be to really take in someone’s body of work. Find a design firm that speaks to your aesthetic. For someone who’s never worked with a designer, it’s amazing to see how a creative interprets your wishes into dreams you didn’t know existed!

Speaking to fellow design pros: what advice do you have about working a challenging client or overcoming unforeseen obstacles on a design project?
Communication is key. We try very hard to manage expectations up front, so that there are no surprises along the way.
Are there any exciting updates with your business in 2023 that you’d like our readers to know about?
We are filming a TV show! I am thrilled to have an episode in an upcoming series and can’t wait to share more!
