Is it just us, or has this winter been dragging on FOREVER? It’s March, and yet, here we are in New York City, still living in frigid temperatures and praying for the first vestiges of Spring to grace us with their presence. We suppose what they say about March is true: it certainly comes in like a lion. We can only hope it goes out like a lamb. In the meantime, we’ve got winter on the brain, and with that, rustic lodge style.
What is Rustic Lodge Style?
Rustic lodge decor is all about celebrating the beauty of natural materials, melding richly woven textiles with sumptuous leather and recaimed wood. The best rustic lodge rooms have a sense of history to them, and most of all, they give you the feeling of getting away, even when you’re not going anywhere at all. With those tenements of design in mind, we’ve put together a mood board to help you get the rustic lodge look in your living room.
Let’s break it down. We start with one of our favorite leather sofas, a vintage-style model that combines a button tufted back and raised sides with three gorgeous leather bound cushions. A little bit retro, a little bit rustic, and a whole lot of hip. Comfortable for dad, big enough for all the kids, and chic enough for mom, of course. Next, let’s talk about that amazing chandelier. This is a new piece to KKH, and we can’t.get.enough.of.it. It’s romantic and rustic, glamorous and masculine, chic but classic, all at once. A shimmering stunner of a piece, this is the perfect fixture to anchor your rustic lodge living room. Lest you think that rustic lodge means old and stodgy, we’ve added a modern piece to round things out with our teak and glass coffee table. Oversized and gorgeous, this table anchors the room, and provides a place to play checkers, place coffee mugs, and snack on popcorn during movie night.

Rustic Lodge Details and Decor
Next, we’ve got a classic armchair. Rustic lodge decor is all about natural materials, but take care not to decorate the entire space in wood tones. To break up the look, we’ve gone with an armchair that has a hint of British Industrial to it. Upholstered in cotton velvet, this piece has classic European lines, with a hint of edge. No room is complete without a mirror, and to keep things feeling natural, we’ve chosen one framed in mangrove wood – it’s the perfect way to bring the outside in. As a finishing touch, we’ve got some antique suitcases – like we said, the best rustic lodge style rooms have a sense of history to them – as well as a gorgeous teak burl wood side table. Flank the sofa with these, pair them with some rustic table lamps, and you’ve got yourself a complete room.
