Hi cuties! I hope 2025 is treating you all well—I am feeling so much great energy to start this year, and I can’t wait to share it all with you here on The Kuotes every step of the way!
You know how much I love to share my favorite things with you each month—and this January is no exception. Read on for all the details on the places, scents, furniture (spoiler alert: it’s KKH custom upholstery) , and clothing I am drawing joy and inspiration from this month.
Kathy’s Favorite #1: Custom Upholstery from Kathy Kuo Home
First on my Faves list this month is—proud self-promotion moment incoming!—our recently-launched custom upholstery collections from KKH! A truly start-to-finish custom experience is something we’ve been working towards for some time and I’m so proud of our new menu of customizable sofas, ottomans, and chaises.
See below to click through several of our current collections offering custom upholstery—The Claudie Collection, The Madeline Collection, and The Kaoru Collection—and know that there’s more to come!
“Our menu of customizable pieces offers a number of sizes and silhouettes, all available in a wide variety of premium fabrics and finishes; so you can select every element of the piece to fit your lifestyle and day-to-day needs.”
And if you’re in the NYC area, come on in to our Showroom in Tribeca to see our customer upholstery fabric options and sit on some of our customizable sofas IRL (and enjoy a glass of bubbly with our team, of course)!

Kathy’s Favorite #2: Snow Sports at Beaver Creek
I was fortunate to have been able to ring in the New Year skiing and snowboarding with my children at beautiful Beaver Creek in Colorado! Spending time outdoors with my kids is one of absolute favorite ways to recharge and connect with both them, and the world around us!
“Beaver Creek was such a joy—if you love snow sports, it’s a must! Not only was the scenery just breath-taking, but the atmosphere is both sophisticated and fun. They even pass out fresh-baked cookies slope-side every afternoon!”
Finally, I want to note that nature is always a huge inspiration for me in my work in the home industry. For example, when it comes to snowy ski mountains, take a look at how my team and I translated that into a curated collection with our Mountain Elegance lookbook!

Kathy’s Favorite #3: Winter Fashion Favorites
I’ll confess that I am a little behind in posting outfit details for the #GRWM reel (below) that I posted over the holidays, but I have been getting so many questions about the outfit deets that I figured I’d share here.
“Honestly, all of these pieces are so versatile for the winter season and I know I’ll be wearing regularly until spring!”
You all know that I love, love, love Zimmermann—I have the dress shown below in several lengths (midi and mini) and colors and it’s perfect for so many occasions! Hurry, because it’s currently on sale. I paired this silk dress with versatile—yet super-chic—boots from Rag & Bone and an on-trend belt-bag from Isabel Marant. It’s a look that is perfect parties but also for special daytime occasions too!

Kathy’s Favorite #4: Scents from Ffern
My love for the Ffern brand is two-fold: Of course, you may know I’m a big believer in the power of scent, but beyond that I love the way that this brand approaches craftsmanship and storytelling.
“This innovative brand releases seasonal scents a couple times a year and offers only a limited production run in order to ensure their commitment to sustainability. So cool!”
I love that Ffern is committed to sustainability at every level of their business—they use only seasonal and natural ingredients and all of their packaging is 100 percent recyclable or compostable—and that their business is built around a 5th generation master perfumer (François Robert) and his protégée (Elodie Durande).
The model of a true artisan working to teach the next generation of talent in the perfume industry truly inspires me and feels so craft-centric.
Kathy’s Favorite #5: Nexus by Yuval Noah Harari
Finally, here’s my pick for #KathysBookClub this month:Nexus by Yuval Noah Harari! I was such a fan of Yuval Noah Harari’s previous work Sapiens (me and the whole country!) so I was really excited to dive into his latest, which focuses on unpacking the history of informational networks.
As a business owner, the flow of information and new ways in which informational networks are evolving is of huge interest to me and I love how this book explains where we are today—in the age of AI, widespread misinformation, and social media—in the context of historical shifts…all with the beautiful goal of uniting us all in our shared humanity.
