Oh my goodness, we’ve stumbled upon our dream French Country living room. Would you believe this room isn’t located in Provence, but instead, right here in the good ol’ US of A? That’s right, this insane home (spotted on Pinterest, originally from House of Turquoise), is located in Provo, Utah. Yes, we said Utah. No, Utah isn’t France. Though with images like these, you’d think it would be.

French Country Decorating
We’re seriously smitten with Desiree Ashworth’s design sense, and especially, with her French Country living room. French Country is one of those decorating styles that seems easy to nail, but in our opinion, is often harder to achieve than other styles, if only by virtue of the fact that it can easily look “too designed” and overdone.
Ashworth has done the design style a serious solid with her home, the entirety of which is decorated in French Country style, with nods to Swedish Gustavian as well. Desiree is herself an interior designer (not surprising, considering her incredible design eye!), and also has a blog, Decor de Provence, which is, of course, filled with some insane interior eye candy. Desiree, can we move in?
This room is the perfect exemplification of French Country living room decor done right. It’s chic but casual, comfortable yet sophisticated. The sofa can withstand the wear and tear of family life (and it looks like there are a few little ones running around!), while the worn Persian rug exudes a lived-in elegance. Insanely high ceilings allow the space to feel expansive, and the addition of well-placed mirrors simply add to the airiness of the space. Meanwhile, Gustavian accents such as the side table, and candlesticks on the mantle, add a bit of whitewashed luxury to the room.
