We’re totally smitten with Style Me Pretty founder Abby Larson’s home, as seen in the latest issue of Domino. Designed by mother daughter design team Lauren and Suzanne McGrath, Larson’s quintessential New England home is the perfect mix of traditional and modern. Larson is a self-described neutrals addict; a woman with a bit of “color phobia.” But for her new home, she knew she wanted something different.
She tells the shelter mag she wanted the interior to be “soft underfoot”, a “good family home that would last us for years to come.” Larson loved the McGrath’s book, Good Bones, Great Pieces and knew the duo’s design sense, which is all about investing in classic pieces that will stand the test of time, would be perfect for her new space.
As soon as she called them up, she told them, “I love white. I love neutrals. Please help me embrace this idea of color.”

Embrace it they did–though sparingly. The home doesn’t feel overly saturated, and maintains the sort of light and bright feel that Larson is drawn to. But you’ll find hints of color everywhere.
The living room features a neutral sofa, but bright pillows. An over-dyed yellow rug is overlayed on a sisal one, while dark wood floors bring a sense of warmth to the space. Hints of gold in the form of side tables and floor lamps infuse glamour into the space, while a waterfall lucite coffee table adds modernity to a traditional room.

On the other side of the room, traditional Hollywood Regency style chairs flank a coffee table; behind them, symmetry is set beyond the fireplace with a pair of mirrors and French Country style side tables. Plus, that faux bois wallpaper?! What more is there to say?

We’re especially smitten with the dining room; those yellow Louis XIV chairs are to die for! There’s lots to love in the rest of the space too, but we’ll let the pictures do the talking. Click on over to Domino to see more shots of the space, and see outtakes on Style Me Pretty.
