With crazy 70 degree weather in February, we can’t help but think of the upcoming spring and summer seasons. What does this mean in the world of interiors? Whether you have a porch, patio, poolside, or sunroom, it’s time to start prepping your outdoor spaces so you can enjoy hours in the sun and experience outdoor living that’s both comfortable and functional.
We have tons of new outdoor items on the site, and our KKH pieces use advancements in fabric technology and construction to manufacture gorgeous outdoor furniture that can withstand the elements.
All-White Formal Villa Dining Room
This clean and elegant modern outdoor look features our Jane furniture, a stately group of outdoor pieces with a French influence and posh sprightliness. The all-white effect maximizes sunlight on a porch or patio and looks stunningly chic, but is the immaculate condition making you nervous? It shouldn’t be. The seating pictured above offers high-resiliency foam core cushions that are wrapped in 100% polyester fiber and then covered in water-resistant Sunbrella sailcloth salt fabric. In short: sit comfortably, host beautiful outdoor dinner parties…and never fear damage from water or dirt. Additionally, the construction of the chair base is powder coated aluminum finished in deep bronze black cordoba (which means it looks beautiful AND it won’t rust!).
Pro Tip: If you have an overhead structure as part of your outdoor space you may be protected from the sun, but you’re cutting out the cool summertime breeze. If you have a roof or pergola, consider installing a ceiling fan like you see above, which can help drop the temperature up to 10 degrees just through air circulation.
Industrial Chic Back Patio
All-white is stunning, but if you’re looking for an outdoor look that’s more…outdoorsy, we put together this industrial patio look that highlights natural materials for an earthy and masculine feel. The look centers on our Tenley dining table, which is made from a teak wood that’s weathered grey. The Tenley is the perfect choice for an outdoor space because the more exposed it is to the elements, the more weathered and authentic the wood becomes, eventually turning a gorgeous grey-blue. Pair the table with our outdoor-approved Albin and Elani chairs and live greenery. This cool and laid-back look makes for an ideal night out around the fire pit or a fun, low-key cookout with your friends.
Pro Tip: Privacy makes or breaks the outdoor space. If you have limited backyard space (or nosy neighbors!), screen your back patio using attractive fencing, tall trees (which also supply shade), shrubs, or a hedgerow. Not only does it give you privacy, but it provides shape and a sense of space to your outdoor area.
Global Bohemian Terrace
Do your summer dreams consist of colors and patterns? Get a look thats “junglicious” by buying a tapestry-woven rug with the brilliant hues, vivid repeats, and nubby textures you can’t get enough of! Our outdoor rugs at KKH are specially made for the outdoors with a resistant polypropylene construction that also feels soft underfoot. Once you have a rug you love, just layer in your favorite outdoor-safe pillows on our Signe Sofa, which is constructed of a powder coated aluminum frame wrapped in a synthetic rattan peel that’s ready for the elements. A word to the wise: the sheepskin furs are NOT weatherproof, but they’re a nice and cozy addition for those cool summer nights.
Pro Tip: Integrate your outdoor space with the landscape. If you have a paved or bricked patio space, use materials to gradually transition and form a connection between the patio and the lawn. Placing pots and planters within your patio area is a foolproof strategy to seamlessly segue between the two spaces.
Preppy Poolside
For everybody already in summer mode, we put together this last look—a clean and classic homage to the striped beach umbrella and polka-dot bikini. Have your guests sipping champagne by the pool by bringing together our chic barware with resort-worthy pool furniture. Our Bismark Chaise, constructed with a synthetic Hularo frame and Sunbrella fabric, is an especially enviable piece that lounges ladylike next to the pool. Add a splash of color with outdoor pillows and layer in adorable coastal decor, and you’ll never want to go back inside.
Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to throw a bar cart into the mix. While most bar carts may not be able to live outdoors all the time, they’re easy to store in a shed and are great to have as tabletop space during a pool party!
One thought on “4 Refreshing Porch and Patio Design Ideas”
I really like the look of these patio examples and think a few styles could fit my yard. I really like the “industrial chic” look because it would be the most suitable design for my home. I’ll have to look into getting more industrial, low key furniture and fencing to keep the style sleek.
