AH, Paris. There's really no other city like it, is there? And we say that as dedicated, diehard New Yorkers. We love our city, but even we'll admit that there's just something about Paris. It's romantic. It's picturesque. It makes you feel like you're walking through a fairy tale. It's as though the entire city sparkles just for you, isn't it? It makes you feel invincible, like a literary heroine on the fringe of a breakthrough.
Or is that just us? Argue all you might, but you'd be hardpressed to find anyone who doesn't truly adore Paris. Of course, part of the magic of Paris lies within its incredible hotels. Our favorite? The Hotel Recamier, which comes highly recommend from Kathy herself. The Recamier was, as the hotel's website describes it, "a sleepy little hotel nicely hidden behind the trees on Place Saint-Sulpice (Saint-Germain-des-Prés). Since it reopened its doors after a substantial renovation, it has been recognized as an establishment where the feeling you get when you walk in is one of quiet luxury."
Quiet luxury. What a wonderful way to put it. The Hotel Recamier is beautiful, yes, and luxurious, yes, but the space's design doesn't cry out, "look at me!" It's not at all gaudy, not overly luxurious. Everything feels modern and classic all at once, perfectly done but not at all overdone. Just the way we like it.
Located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Près, one of the most gorgeous neighborhoods in Paris, Hotel Recamier is just a stone's throw from art galleries, boutiques, home furnishing shops, cafes and more. Luxemborg Gardens are within walking distance, and make for a perfect morning jog or romantic evening date. Meanwhile, the Louvre and Orsay museums are two or three bus stops away.
Each room at Hotel Recamier is different, with one colour scheme per floor with a great variety of designers fabrics and well chosen non standardized furniture. In each room you will enjoy a bed with the highest international standards of comfort, plus the most gorgeous linens we've seen. A reading chair for relaxing, and iPod dock connected to your LCD TV will allow you to enjoy personal music or images. On any floor, the two rooms with a view on the place Saint-Sulpice can be joined to create a family suite (though we believe this is, at its heart, a couples hotel). Meanwhile, the hotel offers a daily breakfast, and concierge service to help you find your way around the city (including finding all those perfect little shops you'd never have found on your own).
Just perfect, isn't it? See more of the hotel below.
